Gamasutra recently interviewed Dustin Browder regarding the design of StarCraft II. Topics covered include the complexity of the game, the difficulty of making it fresh and also true to the franchise, cutting units and inspiration from other games. Read the full three page interview here!
Hey girl from over here your butt looks soft, maybe if I could touch it I could tell if it's soft.
Tell me if it's soft cos I'd really like to touch it, and then I'll show you my penis.
Hey pretty girl, did ya go to college, did you get your BA, with all that knowledge?
I like your boobies in your shirt, please let me show you my penis.

From another angle, what about pessimism about the PC platform generally?

DB: Whatever. PC games have been drying for, how long now? Shouldn't it be dead by now?
Ahahaha oh wow. Anyway insightful news thxs for the share.

I do kinda wish they would stop for a minute with WoW and try perfecting either Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2 over at Blizzard though..

Well I assume they're different divisions but it does seem like WoW has been pretty much constantly developed for years.

Yeah, but when you are getting monthly fees it makes sense to put more support into a game over time. For every player their subscription fees come to the cost of a new game about every 4 months. This provides funds for development of the game (and if you are paying for it you expect good support) and decreases the incentive to produce a new game.

It is clear that PC gaming has declined, but it seems to have plateaued relying on its stalwarts RTS, FPS, and a few other games, which just cannot be matched on consoles. Looking back 10 years ago you can see the difference by just walking into a games store.

Some interesting thoughts about design. Not too much specific info, but I found the talk of balancing complexity and new stuff very interesting. It's good to know that they're shooting for that, that they're trying to keep the flavor of the original while making it new and fresh.
